Thought for the Day: Council Chambers Nostalgia

A Moment of Reflection

As we gathered in the council chambers tonight, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. This space, filled with discussions and decisions that shape our community, held so much significance. As we sat and went about our business in the council chambers tonight, I was struck by the reality that in 40 days this may no longer be my place.

What an amazing group of professionals, Council and staff alike.

When I made a joke “I hope this is my last Council meeting,” everyone started joking around and someone said “we know where you live,” I realized they are right, so does the Vernon Mayor, probably all if not most of the area directors and Vernon council. The reality is, it will still be my place to love and support no matter what my role.

What an amazing life we lead!

Understanding the Flow of Time

Time has a funny way of reminding us of its passage. In the council chambers, we often discuss the future: upcoming projects, community initiatives, and ways to better our environment. But as I sat there, I realized how swiftly the present can turn into the past. Every decision we make today influences tomorrow. We often become so engrossed in our day-to-day undertakings that we forget to take a moment to appreciate where we are right now.

Embracing the Unknown

Change, while sometimes intimidating, is essential for progress. In 40 days, I might step away from my role, but that doesn't mean the end of my journey. It’s merely the beginning of a new chapter, filled with potential and promise. Perhaps it’s time to think of this transition not as a loss, but as an exciting opportunity to explore uncharted territories in my life.

As we all venture into new phases, let’s remember to savor the moments we have together. Whether it’s sharing a laugh in the council chambers or debating an important issue, these memories will stay with us always. It’s vital to embrace the unknown and welcome what lies ahead with open arms.
